Spring is near, and the weather will soon begin to warm up (unless you live in Los Angeles where it has been unusually warm almost the entire winter), so it’s time to start planning for travels and vacations. I don’t know about you, but I plan to take a few trips this year. Last year was a great year of travels for me, so this year I’ve decided to create a bucket list of all the top travel destinations I want to achieve.
2. Santa Barbara, Ca
A two-hour drive from LA makes this a perfect local destination. I have lived in LA for a while and have traveled to many northern parts of California, but I’m yet to visit Santa Barbara. Downtown Santa Barbara is the most popular area, known for its Mediterranean style buildings, art galleries, wine tasting, and fantastic food. Perfect for a visit with my boyfriend or girlfriends, this trip is soon to be marked off.
3. St. Louis, Mo
My hometown, I haven’t visited for a while so I need to get back ASAP, even if it’s just enough time to visit with my dad and family. I miss the polite, well-mannered people and welcoming environment. I won’t begin to talk about the delicious food, but I will say there’s no place like home.
4. New York, NY
I’ve visited New York a few times, but haven’t visited in nearly two years, so it’s about time to breathe in the east coast air. I love New York, though I couldn’t always say that. After my first visit, it took me some time to get used to the fast-paced lifestyle (not to mention my driver's license that was stolen from my backpack, my first few hours there). However, I love the vast arts and fashion culture. If you are ever looking to travel to a place to get inspired, New York is filled with great inspiration of all types.
5. Denver, Co
Because of my love of nature, Denver is one of the top five destinations on my list. I enjoy being outdoors, mountains and a good hike. I can nearly wait to explore the outdoor activities, visit the Great Sand Dunes national park, and maybe do some outdoor camping and stargazing.
6. Paris, France
Accents, art, fashion, food, romance, museums, beauty, ambiance, sign me up! What more do I need to say?
7. Kingston, Jamaica
Am I the only one who thinks of the singer Sean Kingston when I hear Kingston Jamaica (Most definitely not a fan)? Maybe so, I had to include a tropical destination on my list, and why not include Kingston, capital of Jamaica and home of Bob Marley. I’ve always been fascinated by the Caribbean culture not to mention the delicious food and good music. So adding Jamaica to my list was a no-brainer.
8. Tulum, Mexico
I have always been fascinated by Tulum, Mexico and have been eyeing this place ever since I saw Miss Charmise on YouTube, visited there about two years ago, and I am amused by the art and beauty of this town. Mayan ruins and beautiful beaches, cenotes and reef snorkeling, Mayan clay and Mexico food. Can you tell how badly I want to go?
9. Santorini, Greece
This has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Wine tours, beautiful beaches, Instagram-able views, fresh Grecian food, hot springs, ancient Akrotiri and Pyrgos. I can just imagine seeing the beauty in reality.
10. Phuket, Thailand
I can’t wait to see all of the beauty and affordability (once there) Thailand has to offer. I want to get a massage on the beach, visit sacred monuments, and touch the clear waters and white sandy beaches, shop at the floating market and so much more.
You might have noticed a theme: art, food, and nature were prevalent on my list. Those things make me happy. Yes, I can find those characteristics in my backyard, but I enjoy exploring other cultures and submerging myself in that culture, learning how different this world is. Traveling is a great way to gain inspiration and to be thankful for the life I’ve been blessed with, even when I think I don’t have a lot. When I travel and see how simple or less fortunate others live, it makes me appreciate what I have at home and helps me strive to achieve more in life.
This isn’t my complete list but does reflect my top travels for this year. What are some destinations you have marked off your bucket list, or want to mark off this year? Leave a comment in the comment section below.
